NASA: Hubble scope spotted earliest known galaxies

Posted by Junichi Kawagoe on 07.2010 News Out of English Newspaper   0 comments   0 trackback
The most distant galaxies to date have been spotted and captured in pictures taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.

The Hubble pictures were taken after repairs to the telescope were completed last year. NASA analyzed the images and found they show multiple galaxies about 13 billion light years away.

The galaxies were formed about 600 million to 800 million years after the big bang, which is thought to have occurred around 13 billion years ago.

The galaxies are small and do not seem to be swirling like other galaxies.

These galaxies are likely the beginnings of the process of galaxy growth that has until now only been a theory.

The latest development will most likely be regarded as one important piece in solving the mystery of the origin of the universe.
