Why So Fast Tonight?

Posted by Junichi Kawagoe on 30.2011 息子の英語教育記録   0 comments   0 trackback
Despite closely approaching December, what's this warmth in these days!? The mercury amazingly marked 20 degrees Celsius in Osaka! On the other hand, according to the TV tonight, the forecast for tomorrow is like the following: "Osaka would experience a rapid fall in temperature in the range of more than 10 degrees Celsius. Please raise the alert level for cold." Wow, you bet I surely need to be cautious!

Kiyoshi's English Education Report Vol. 20:
I don't get it about tonight's Kiyoshi (*_*) Why are you so fast in learning words as far as tonight goes?
The thing ringing any bells is that tonight I taught him relatively earlier than usual in the evening. It may have been good for him to memorize them... OK, I'll tend to them as early as possible in the day from now on
Anyway good job, Kiyoshi!

Hashimoto, Matsui win twin Osaka polls
Quoted from Japan Times

OSAKA ― Populist reform trounced the status quo in Osaka Sunday evening as former governor and Osaka Ishin no kai leader Toru Hashimoto, 42, won the mayoral election and Ichiro Matsui, 47, a senior leader in the same party and Hashimoto's hand-picked successor, clinched the governor's seat.

Today was one of our annual enjoyable days to be with people from the Philippines in church. Thanks God, we were successfully able to finish our job to serve our food and groceries to our customers!
Here are photos taken there!

The Newest Weapon in the War on Kaiten Zushi Market

During lunch Kiyoshi spent a pleasant time with us at Kaiten-zushi (^.^)
Here the pictures taken there.

Actually it's been a long time to be there and we quickly found the way serving us efectively changed again. The following advertising board in a picture says: It must be the first time for you to be able to open the lid without touching! This is because of preventing infection via the lid with germ or virus attached by hand.
It continues like that "please just tip up your saucer on the moving lane to open the lid, and then pull out the saucer with sush."

Hmm, how do you like it?
Is it cool?

OK let's get down to Kiyoshi's thing.

Kiyoshi's English education report Vol. 16:
As of today, he has learned words starts with A up to Q in the alphabet which are APPLE, BALL, CAT, DOG, EGG, FACE, GAME, HAND, ICE, JAPAN, KNEE, LEG, MOUTH, NAIL, ONION, PEN and QUIET.
Good job, Kiyoshi

How come?

Today's lesson was started with just checking up how far he would remember the words he has learned yesterday.
There again, the same thing happened to him!
I got stunned when I found him started spelling the words perfectly which have ended up in failure yesterday.

How can that be???

Strange to Say... どうしてそうなるの?

haa.jpg Kiyoshi's English education report Vol. 14:
Yesterday's Kiyoshi wasn't quite good at learning English words for him who has seemed to be a quick learner since started the lesson the other day.

Currently he is learning words which starts with each initial letter of the alphabet.
Last night I, who was annoyed by him being slow at learning, unexpectedly said like "OK it's enough!" "Put that away and go to bed!"
Then in this evening, I tried to check as usual whether he remembered words he had learned yesterday. That said, I had nothing expected at that time. Because despite spending for about 2 hours to learn yesterday, he couldn't remember all of them in the end. (- which are the words HAND, ICE, JAPAN and KNEE)
However can you believe that? On this evening's checkup, he proudly answered most of them correctly. What happened to him who couldn't answer last night! I asked him like "You studied their words by yourself?" Then his answer is "Nothing at all." I completely felt confused by him as assuming like "Is there such a strange thing?"

Anyway he mastered them.
I hope he would never say tomorrow "I don't remember anything at all."

In these days the weather turned pretty cold also in Osaka, following to eastern Japan.

This chilliness finally made me take appropriate action to bring winter clothing down to the 2nd floor. But therefore the 3rd floor ended up to leave messy, scattering a lot of clothing for my son's summer shirts up to my wife's summer T shirts quite mixed T_T It's no doubt how fiercely my wife, who is out for business tonight, would get upset with me, if tomorrow morning she spotted at what I've done! In spite of that, I know it's too easygoing that I'm now writing this journal, picking up a pile of clothing aside ^^

Today's Kiyoshi Really Not Good at Learning

Kiyoshi's English educational report Vol. 13:
Today's lesson was started with a test to examine how firmly Kiyoshi remembered the words learned yesterday ^^
There, he performed relatively well with correct answers of 5 out of 7 ^^ The words he tried were things like apple for A, ball for B, then cat, dog, egg, face and game. Among them the two he failed were apple and face. Apple was written as "applle," and as for face, he seemed to completely slip out of his memory.
After tightly got them into his head again, here are today's menu of words.
It was like "hand" initially starts with H, and then followed by "ice" for I, "Japan" and "knee."

I wonder if he was getting drowsy... Today's Kiyoshi is not good at learning them so much.
So, finally the lesson dragged on for two whole hours (@o@)
Good job Kiyoshi ^^

Kiyoshi just reviewed yesterday's lesson of words from A to G for a few minuts.
As I  expected, I was so surprized at how fast he learned English words. But once it comes to writing, it seemed just a tad hard for him to exactly remember the spelling

Kiyoshi's English education report Vol. 10:
Today we were out during the day for serving our food for peoples from the Philippines on a river bank in Osaka.
It was lucky not to have been constantly suffered from rain, even if a light drizzle fell at one point and gusty wind annoyed us all day long. That's because an unclear sky which tended to rain had continued until yesterday. Anyway, it seems like we were successfully able to finish our job. And it's great also for him to have become an enjoyable Sunday!

Let's move into Today's English.
Kiyoshi learned English words from A to G for the first time which are like the bellow.
apple / ball / cat / dog / egg / face / game

Actually the English curriculum in Japanese schools is started with lessons like "This is a pen," That is a notebook" and other sentences in basic and short, after learned the alphabet. But it comes to schools in the Philippines, according to my wife, at first students learn words started with each initial letter. It's really interesting for me who studied in a Japanese style education program. After all I decided to take a Philippine one because of that brilliant ability of English. The Philippines are said as the second ranked nation in the world to use English as a second language.

Today's English lesson has been off.

Kiyoshi's early-morning lesson's just now finished!
Sorry kiyoshi for failing to teach you English last night from my laziness, that's because I was up to my neck in ornamenting a Christmas tree last night

Anyway, he completely mastered the small letters of the alphabet from zero. I amazingly say that he learned them only for 3days on a hour a day. I'm always astonished by him in their ages how fast and easily to aquire the things he learned.

I spotted a word a while ago which is just suitable to my feeling toward children.
" Nobody is born stupid. Babies and infants show a great desire and ability to lean. People call it genius."

kKiyoshi's English educational report Vol. 3:
Kiyoshi studied the alphabet following a previous lesson for more than an hour.
At this point there are a couple of things I noticed about him. First, one is such quickness to memorize things I taught him. I initially expected for him to be a first learner as his age 7 years old. But actually it was far beyond my expectation! Faced this event, I certainly understood how we have had less communication to know him who he is T_T
Now I'm so proud of him and do feel my responsibility as a father. Thank you Kiyoshi for arousing my paternal instinct!
Then the second is that it's interesting for me to see him struggling with an alphabet N. I know most of Japanese students get hard to pronounce R and V along with sometimes Z. As for Z, not more than a little Japanese people speak it like the way "ZETTO" Yes, so do my son, as I assumed. But why it also comes to N? He annoyingly had kept failing pronunciation. I can't get it that "N" was produced a sound as "M" by him, no matter how many times he tried. Hmmm, that's a weird thing...
So I felt again that everyone has his or her own strengths and weaknesses to go.

q fs ter Kiyoshi's English report 2:
The English lesson I've started for my son since yesterday is off today because of we enjoyed this pleasant season all day.

Appended pictures are walking bridges built for hikers which is about 10 meters high and entire length of 300 meters - and it is called in Japanese "MORINO KUUCHUU KANSATSURO" meaning in English "a walking lane to appreciate a forest"

Actually, today I took my parents and son to that peaceful suburb in the photos for a lot of walks.

Yeah, it was indeed breathtaking scenery!

We appreciated the nature in the open air there^^

Thank you for wonderful season, nicest weather!

Kiyoshi's Maiden Exposure to English

2 3 Kiyoshi's English educational report Vol. 1:

I think that this day may become something like a big day for my son and me.

It's the first time not only for my 7-year-old son Kiyoshi to be exposed to English today, but also for me to try teaching such a mere kid English.

He is a first grade student.

To my dismay, English isn't a requisite subject in his school same as average public elementary schools in Japan.

However I wonder if it's better for mere children like Kiyoshi to go along with a little bit of English in the egg every day.

Anyway, that's why I decided to do the English teacher thing.

That said, I'm now thinking about our program only as something like reading child books, writing a diary or listening popular old tales together with him.

Yes, I know it's the way usual parents naturally do for their kids in daily life.

Come to think of it, the thing I have to keep in mind is "never take a study-like stiff attitude toward my sweet student," I consider...

Touching on today's English menu.

As I thought first, Kiyoshi is just starting with reading, speaking and writing the alphabet.

I can't wait to find his first entry here before long ^^

This is going to be great!
